I am pleased to share with you that the College of Business Administration added 540 new graduates to our alumni family at the Spring 2021 Commencement. These recent graduates celebrated their achievements at an in-person ceremony last month, joining the ranks of successful alumni such as Grace Wakulchik, MBA ’96, President and CEO of Akron Children’s Hospital. Grace was honored during the college’s 2021 Spirit of Women in Business Conference for her achievements leading the region’s premier pediatric hospital.
In recent newsletters I have shared with you the high rankings achieved by the Online MBA Program. This semester the program added a new achievement earning the #35 spot on Fortune’s Best Online MBA Programs 2021 ranking. College faculty are also being recognized for their expertise. Dr. Kathryn Wilson, Chair and Professor of Economics, has been appointed to the Ohio Economic Experts Panel and Dr. Ilgaz Arikan, Associate Professor of Management, launched an international business experts video series in collaboration with the Academy of International Business. We are truly surrounded by excellence and inspired by those in our community who continued to excel during the past year.

$20,000 Awarded to 2021 CEBIpitch Finalists
Eight student finalists competed for $20,000 in cash prizes in the Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation's fifth annual CEBIpitch competition, which took place virtually on April 7. Grace Dillard, received the top prize of $10,000 to support her company, Touched by Grace. The company provides all-natural, handmade personal care products for sensitive skin.
More than 175 Students Receive Scholarships and Awards
Each spring the College of Business Administration recognizes students receiving scholarships at the annual Scholastic Excellence Celebration. This year, more than 175 students were recognized for scholarships or other awards along with faculty and staff who received awards for outstanding teaching, research and service.
Fortune Ranks Kent State Online MBA #35
The Kent State University College of Business Administration’s Online MBA ranks #35 in the nation in Fortune’s inaugural Best Online MBA Programs 2021 ranking. This top 35 placement joins other high rankings for the Online MBA program from U.S. News and World Report and The Princeton Review earlier this year. Kent State is the highest-ranked public university in northern Ohio on the list.
Daymond John Featured as Keynote Speaker
Daymond John, founder/CEO of FUBU, presidential ambassador for Global Entrepreneurship, star of ABC’s “Shark Tank” and CEO of The Shark Group, served as the keynote speaker for the Better Business Bureau of Akron’s 101-Year Anniversary celebration hosted by the Kent State College of Business Administration’s Michael D. Solomon Entrepreneurship Speaker Series.
